So if you’re standing there saying “hey, maybe this room needs new curtains”, don’t be shocked when people look at you like you’re crazy. Things need fixing, NOW! In my experience, its A LOT worse when dealing with someone strong right leaning or strong left leaning. To break it down into the Sativa To Change The Things I Can Indica Accept Things Moon shirt in other words I will buy this simplest terms, those people HATE individuals that don’t have locked in values that sway one way or the other. They lump you into the category of someone who “flip flops” or can’t decide what you want. I live in a deep red state in the Midwest, and fortunately most individuals within my family and social circle are more centrist like me, but there are a lot that are definitely pretty heavy right leaning conservatives. Not so much that anything affiliated with democratic policy is viewed as evil, but most of it is lumped into just being “liberal propaganda”.

Have you heard of the Sativa To Change The Things I Can Indica Accept Things Moon shirt in other words I will buy this Overton window before? Regardless of whether we’re talking economics or social issues, what’s considered socially acceptable in politics shifts left or right over time and what counts as “center” inevitably shifts along with it. In that sense the word centrist can be a misnomer, because in the US for example, “centrist” basically just means you’re on the right. It’s also worth noting that sometimes it’s unreasonable to try to find a middle ground on an issue. Oftentimes you’re enabling a problem if you’re not combating it. Centrism isn’t a political ideology or moral stance. It’s “well I’ll just stay out of the way”. You essentially base your morality entirely on whatever everyone else is doing. It’s lazy. Centrism posits the idea that in between two extremes there’s a “halfway house” that’s acceptable to both sides or that the “halfway house” of two opposing ideas is not just best but morally correct.
