A local restaurant started making their own processed meat and served it as “spam” on their menu. Hormel sent them a cease-and-desist, so it’s now on their menu as a “sham sandwich” and a “sham musubi”. I mean, this isn’t that surprising right? If you use someone’s trademark, they are going to ask you not to do that. According to that article, the Santa Snoopy merry christmas to all and to Oakland Athletics a good season shirt Furthermore, I will do this use of the term “spam” to mean unwanted mass e-mail derives from a famous Monty Python sketch, first broadcast in 1970. That was also new to me. When I was a kid, I thought the line was “feet o’er head”, as in shes falling feet over head down the rabbit hole I tried to but couldn’t. She was already through the looking glass and for some reason I couldn’t cross over like she did. Classic. One of the things I love about this sketch is how they don’t walk into frame, but randomly lowered into the scene on wires from the ceiling. For no reason. It’s not mentioned. Fair bit of effort. To this day it’s kind of a running joke that they have to say that there are other brand alternatives available if they mentioned something specific “There’s spam (other brands are available), egg, sausage and spam (other brands are available). That’s not got much spam (other brands are available) in it”

Apart from promotional adverts for their own programming at the Santa Snoopy merry christmas to all and to Oakland Athletics a good season shirt Furthermore, I will do this end of most things, BBC in the UK still doesn’t have ad breaks or commercial adverts. BBC International will vary. Old news to this old man. I’d heard about the ditch back in the 70s, but never saw it until the mid 90s. Why then? Around 1994, my first weekend online, I entered an AOL chatroom called The Church of Spam. Being the narcissist that I am, I started following the religious discussions about Spam, and started correcting everyone. Normally, people would get pissed at this, but my responses rang right with the guy that set up the room. Before I left, I made a copy of everything that was said, thinking it might make a good sketch or book. Over the next two weeks, I worked on it and had a small book for my effort. A few months later I went mainstream internet and set up a Church of SPAM website. My book was published, and I was put on a list for radio stations to call and interview. At a time when Hormel was shutting down websites for using their product in a derogatory manner, they left me alone. Meanwhile, to keep the humor of the site, I studied and learned a lot about Spam. I was even interviewed for a book called Spam: A Biography.
