When I was growing up in the Santa Grinch Look At This Mfer Christmas Shirt Also,I will get this 90s/00s my mom definitely had a friend group like on Friends. We would all always have BBQs and do Easter together, etc. It depends on what your hobbies are, and if lucky enough you can a friendship with shared interest, and grow your group or join other peoples group, but honestly that type of friendship is rare, you don’t look for it, it finds you Join a local meetup discord. If there isn’t one for your city, create one. I’m on one for my city with nearly 6k people on it and there’s events happening every day. In the pre internet days people hung out more to pass the time. Back when your other entertainment options were the same 10-12 vhs tapes or whatever happened to be on tv/radio. I’m entering my 40s and that’s a definite no. I do still maintain contact with a few friends via text but nothing like a group. I’d agree with the consensus that such friendships don’t tend to last, and most will mature past such shenanigans. Your idea of friendship sounds like an actual hell to me. I had a small group of friends (like maybe 3) and we did some shit once every two weeks, maybe once a week. That was enough… more than enough. It was wishfulfilment then and it’s only become even more unrealistic. Just look at their apartments and the jobs they presumably paid for those apartments with. I turned 40 this year and I haven’t regularly hung out with more than one of my friends at the same time in 10 years. People start families and have other commitments so we can’t all hang out in the bar or coffee shop every day. But that’s probably why the shows were so successful. They provided some nostalgic escapism allowing us to hang out with friends for half an hour every week and have a laugh. Twice last week I was behind someone paying with a check for groceries. One of those times when it was my turn I realized I’d left my wallet at home and Apple Pay saved the day.
