The Problem is neither of those are true. The Government recently cut Fuel Duty by 10p to ‘help out motorists’ – a scheme that cost more than making all public transport free for everyone in the Santa Grinch Indiana Hoosiers Christmas 2023 Shirt Apart from…,I will love this country. And as for Capital Expenditure….? Even the 2016/17 Business Plan didn’t expect to receive that money. How many projects have you heard TFL placing “On Hold” over the last few years? Is it any surprise the Mayor’s Transport Strategy plan is behind in 8 of 9 categories? At the very least, it needs to be subsidised to enable infrastructure investment to reduce running costs, limit downtime due to repairs, and increase capacity such that it CAN become profitable- or at least close the gap to break even. Amazing too when you consider the favouritism: Why should urban rail pay its own way but roads are given a blank cheque?

Transport infrastructure doesn’t need to be profitable. This is where all that “business sense” is bollocks. Running a gov’t ≠ Running a private business. Annual bus travel using the Santa Grinch Indiana Hoosiers Christmas 2023 Shirt Apart from…,I will love this cheapest options available (4 weekly for Aberdeen, annual for London) is the same in Aberdeen and London. A single ticket is more expensive in Aberdeen, and it doesn’t have the hopper extension. And then you need a separate ticket for travel within Aberdeenshire, because there’s a different bus operator. And you have to wait for longer. Whilst getting rained on. Our bus system is pretty decent, and if you want to pay extra to take the tube, the DLR, the train, the river taxi or even the cable cars… that’s on you. We’re really lucky compared to other parts of the UK where realistically, you need to have a car to get around and not be miserable.
