I know what’s stopping them- the worlds wealthy doesn’t GAF unless it’s Conspicuous Charity that can be used to garner more power and money. NGO’s have been building Wells in Africa for about 60 years. The real question is why are they still drilling wells? If your government spent billions and abour 60 years trying to build a water system and still failed the question would become why is my government so terrible. The charity sector is deeply flawed and corrupt. They have no desire to put themselves out of business. This is a pretty popular celebrity project. Even though it’s pretty inexpensive to put in a well. It’s just that Africa is really big. Mr Beast for example is in a safe area. Lots of Africa is perfectly safe, but many places aren’t, random celebrities in the US have no idea one part of Africa from another. It’s really big and there are many counties and varying levels on infrastructure.

Because they are greedy and want to hoard their resources like that class has throughout societal history. They don’t have empathy and don’t care about struggling humans. They see the land as land to exploit and people as slaves. But also, it’s not as simple as going and digging wells. NGO’s and UN did this in the 80’s across south and Southeast Asia due to people relying on surface water, which resulted in high infant mortality rates. This was seen as a big success because 100’s of millions of people now had access to clean drinking water and infant mortality rates dropped. About 10 years later cancer in that entire region exploded due to there being high levels of arsenic in the ground water. This is the largest mass poisoning in human history, and it’s still prevalent today with over 100 million still getting poisoned. There’s a lot of nuance to clean water, and I surely hope there were water tests done for the wells dug in this case. In Africa, people are very dependent on latrines for taking a dump. There have been many instances of these latrines contaminating well water. So there really needs to be an analyses of soil, geology, groundwater flow, and chemical/biological testing of the groundwater to insure quality drinking water.
