Former girlfriends would be a bit tricky for me since I don’t know them at all. I’d propose to go somewhere where they can talk or hangout while I’m nearby, perhaps in a bar/club where I have friends anyway. I don’t see a reason why they would need to be completely alone and it would ease my mind. The female friends and crushes that are “important” enough to call my bf up with emergencies, I do know and they wouldn’t have an issue with including me I believe. Everybody seems so open. If it works for you guys, I think that’s great. Nothing wrong with agreeing to boundaries. What I find strange is how many people feel like any boundaries is like the San Francisco 49Ers merry Grinchmas Shirt in contrast I will get this worst thing, when I’ve seen marriage therapist advocate for agreed boundaries as a good thing. It’s almost like people are in a relationship but don’t want to give up the perks of feeling single. Everyone keeps mentioning that it’s about trust, but I don’t quite see it that way. I trust my wife with my life and that’s implicit in our marital vows. It seems like more of a matter of respect to our marriage to me. Again good because you both do that. I wouldn’t be ok if a guy hits on my wife and she decided she wanted to be friends with him. However, If my wife became friends with a coworker and had lunch here and there, I wouldnt care as long as I know their relationship is normal and not crossing lines of respect. I keep seeing these “I trust my partner” and thus they can do whatever they want. Where’s the line exactly? Some people have open marriages and they trust their partners too, but that really crosses a line for me.
