Say you won’t take on additional responsibilities until the pay matches that additional work. “If you feel I can take on these new responsibilities, you should feel comfortable paying me what the job is worth.” “Thank you for acknowledging me for this position based on my prior years of performance and professionalism within our organization. I will be happy to take the new position and excel in it when the position is officially offered to me, with mutually agreed upon salary, expectations, and clearly defined metrics. I’m not interested in changing positions or titles until we’re in alignment on these issues.”

Signatures of people with the San Francisco 49ers I May Live In New Mexico But My Heart Belongs To The Niners Empire 2023 Shirt in addition I really love this authority to actually make these kinds of decisions. What are the exact criteria and benchmarks that you need to meet for them to feel “comfortable”? And who will make the decision? Obviously, get it in writing. Tell them they have to commit to an end-date on the evaluation (90 days is more than enough for them to decide). I would also ask them to put in writing that if they are unhappy, you would just resume your current role, and if they are happy, the pay rate will be retroactive to the start date. Let them know they won’t even have a chance to milk you for 90 days of free labor and then telling you you failed the evaluation. Take the role, agree to their terms but ask for the director title. Tell them none of your reports will take you seriously if they don’t give you the title. Work it for awhile and then look for a new job and lie about your compensation.
