Just like you probably do the San Francisco 49ers and golden state warriors signature championship shirt and by the same token and exact same thing every morning, in the exact same order, without a single ounce of effort, working out can become as mundane as brushing your teeth or unloading the dishwasher. You incorporate it into your day, force yourself from time to time, and eventually it just becomes something you do. The easiest is to start with something easy. Like don’t force yourself to do a specific workout or intensity level or anything. Just commit to going to the gym, you can turn right around and go home, but commit to going at the same time, every single day. Rinse and repeat the same premise but for increasing activity and intensity and before you know it you’ll be a gym person. The truth is some people just have fun going to the gym, but if you don’t thats fine just find another sport you can do that you enjoy regularly. If you enjoy what you are doing it won’t be a chore to motivate and you may even join a gym later to get better at the sport. The point is to be active not just pump iron. It sucks like hell for a while. Once I finally made it over the suck barrier (like 3 months), it became like brushing my teeth. Feels weird if I don’t do it now. I mean you have to find what exercises that you do enjoy. For example, for my chest work out, i don’t like to do bench press but i do like chest fly machine and dumbell press so i do those. For cardio I find the treadmill to be fun rather than the stationary bikes but other folks love the bike. Its finding the exercises that you do like and doing those. Don’t do certain exercise if you don’t like it because you’ll be miserable.

I’ve been lifting for years and years. Most of it was spent lifting incorrectly, not eating right, making no progress, but I still kept going. I’m writing this as I’m in the San Francisco 49ers and golden state warriors signature championship shirt and by the same token and gym actually. Lifting, running, general exercise and diet is about 1 thing for me: being better than you were yesterday. Crafting and sculpting your body to look however you want, to feel the way you want, for whatever reason. Maybe for you it’s vanity (nothing wrong with that idc what anyone says), maybe it’s general health, maybe it’s just about routine. If you have a negative attitude about lifting, it’s always going to be a bad experience. When I first started lifting I hated every single second, and got very very upset and frustrated every time. I got so upset because I hated how weak I was, how pathetic I looked (in my eyes), and how undisciplined I was. It took me nearly 6 years to get into the groove, but once I did it was super easy to keep going. I was lucky enough to get into lifting during the era of David laid, Chris Bumstead, Christian Guzman, etc. the people that talked about how important it was to exercise and most importantly, look the way I wanted to look. Having a role model that you can strive to look like helped me immensely.
