If you do end up on a trial, don’t be at all late. A woman on the San Antonio Spurs All Star Squad Signatures shirt moreover I love this jury of one of the trials i was on was fined £100 because we had to wait five minutes for her. Her excuse was that there was a long queue in Marks and Spencer when she went to buy a sandwich. As an avid crime fiction reader & watcher, I’ve always quite fancied it. Imagine my dismay to discover that a distant relative had had a summons to serve on a jury but was unable to as they were in prison at the time. Yeh I do have visions of being all Agatha Christie- and then ending up with a bog standard shoplifter or something. In reality I’d bet most cases are going to be fairly standard stuff like shoplifting, minor assaults. The sort of things that happen all the time, not the murders and rapes that are rarer.

I know you are joking, but for the San Antonio Spurs All Star Squad Signatures shirt moreover I love this avoidance of doubt, the deal with being a juror is that you must make a decision in the evidence presented, not go looking for it making up your own evidence. I did it a couple of years ago, attempted murder case, guy defended himself which went about as well as you would have imagined. I was the foreman (forewoman?) of the jury, the others on the jury selected me to do this solely on the basis of my job (teacher). I found the whole thing really really fascinating, reading the minutiae of the law to assist in making the judgement etc. i was fortunate that it wasn’t a distressing case in spite of the charges, I had a mate coincidentally doing it at the same time and he had a horrible case involving abuse and incest and it really upset him. So it’s luck of the draw in terms of what case you get. I was originally picked for a case that ended up being a terrorism trial (was at Belmarsh) but had to excuse myself due to the predicted duration of the trial. Was a bit annoyed when I found out later as that would have been extremely interesting.
