News for you, companies intensify hiring cheap foreign workers on H-1B, perhaps from india, instead of perfectly qualified Americans. All those interviews perhaps just a front, as part of requirements to show Dept of Labor that no American available or qualified for the Roll Away The Stone Mott The Hoople Shirt in other words I will buy this job TBH the meta thing is probably working against you. Yes, you worked there. You also got laid off from there after only 6 months. That may not be your fault, but the optics are bad. But also he worked somewhere for 6 months where presumably, the did nothing for 6 months, and thats all the experience they ever had. It’s a common experience to see Meta/Google/whatever snatch up a bunch of young talent and really do nothing with them, I wonder if they advance in their job skills in these institutions

I have to hard disagree. I’d never hold that against anyone interviewing with me and I don’t know any interviewers that would. Maybe that’s industry practice or trend but to me it’s much more important what the Roll Away The Stone Mott The Hoople Shirt in other words I will buy this person did during those 6 months than the fact they got laid off. In fact, a 6 month stint at any company isn’t unheard of due to the prevalence of contract work. Looking at a resume you can’t know if they were fired, laid off, or if they just fulfilled their contract. the real issue is that he wasn’t able to build up 2-3 yoe, and now can’t get a new job. Being laid off after 6 months from an entry level job at a known failing company is not really a black mark on your resume. The last time I was laid off was during a global downturn. LOTS of people were laid off. Every recruiter and interviewer still wanted details, even though it was blitheringly obvious what happened and they’d probably already interviewed multiple people with a resume gap around the same period. If my resume hadn’t shown years of prior uninterrupted experience I may not have got those interviews at all.
