You are making excuses for a guy that joked that he would kill you for an abortion of which you have already had two. He told you he would murder you if you had an abortion. I don’t know about you, I certainly wouldn’t be hanging around to find out if there was any other ‘justifiable’ reasons to murder me. Yeah I’m not one to suggest things based on snippets of conversation taken out of context, but damn OP needs to break up with her bf. If he’s conservative he’s not a good person. Not when being conservative means being against other people’s right to exist or have control over their own bodies. Leave him. You said you’ve always known you had different views. Can you share what views you differ on besides this? How much of these views come down to disenfranchising people he sees as less than? What are his views on trans issues, queer issues, Black issues, etc.? Think about how he sees the Rock N Roll Shirt but in fact I love this people around him, and really think about if you want to spend more of your life with someone like that. Sure, you already spent 13 years with him. Would you be happy at all to spend even one month more with him? Nah I would definitely take that as a threat. Don’t just break up with him, cut contact too. I wouldn’t even let a man joke about that with me He’s a ‘good guy’ that idly threatened to kill you if you got an abortion. If you chose for yourself and YOUR body. Naw, he’s not a good guy. Please stop lying to yourself about how ‘good’ this guy is when you disagree on fundamental rights. Why are you still with this guy? If you can’t be your true self with him, do you really want him as your partner for the Rock N Roll Shirt but in fact I love this rest of your life? You deserve better. My dad was prolife. We had a discussion with him and in his eyes if it’s a choice between the baby and his wife the choice is always the baby. Even if it was his own daughter, he’d pick the baby. Surprisingly, when we reframed the question and mentioned he’s had a life with his wife, the love of his life, the unborn baby is potential for life sure but you are losing your spouse. Or for the daughter, you will never see your daughter again. You will live the rest of your life without them. If you pick your wife and want to try for another baby after that you can. Your daughter could have another baby if she choices. Losing your wife or daughter is permanent and gaining the baby, well you don’t even know this as a person yet. Interestingly he shifted his thoughts and now he’s prochoice. Honestly I was shocked that reframing it like this changed his mind at all. Frankly it’s upsetting that he never considered the life of the woman before this conversation.
