I was very young, around 5 at a push but it had such an impact that it’s one of my earliest memories. My dad stood in the Robert Downey Jr Oscar Winner signature shirt Besides,I will do this door of my room after having put me to bed. He said goodnight, and then looked beyond me towards a corner of my room and said “goodnight little boy.” I must’ve reacted badly as he then soothed me and said he was only joking, no one was there. My dad did similar, then said ghosts aren’t real and I should worry about the man in the loft. I don’t think I’ve slept properly since. A warning light came on on the dash, something unimportant; but dad went wide eyed, and screeched the car to a halt on the side of the road, and bailed out of the car, running away while yelling “it’s gonna blow up!!” Cue me panicking and frantically trying and failing to get my seat belt undone, and dad let me do that for a few seconds before coming back to car while busting a gut laughing.

I always looked back at that as pretty funny but my friends recently informed me that that was actually a pretty shitty thing to do. Right!? Like yeah it kinda rides the Robert Downey Jr Oscar Winner signature shirt Besides,I will do this line between humour and trauma, but if you knew my dad you’d understand that’s just his sense of humour. I regard it as a funny memory! I did this on a car journey to Bournemouth once. Remember those rolling window blind things that stuck to the car window? I was left to my own devices as kid travelling in the boot of my dads Austin Ambassador (it was the eighties) and I left it on my head for waaaay tooo long. Every now and again she’d put soap on the brush first. I thought it was my step dad growing up. It was only as an adult that she admitted it was her and nearly pissed herself laughing.
