Nothing like being moralized to by folks who have the Ricky Nelson Singer Pop Pioneer Musician Actor Shirt it is in the first place but same vices behind the velvet ropes. Not that I need to be drunk to enjoy some footy. There’s also the human rights abuses, so not going seems like one of those easy logistical decisions you can easily justify on ethical grounds. I mean, that’s literally Qatar. They preach morality at home and the Emir’s (male) relatives all go to more liberal places to drink, party, and fuck prostitutes because they, like the Saudis, are a bunch of flaming hypocrites. Once had a Qatari flight student go out drinking with us after a day of flying. When I asked him about it he said “Oh, it’s ok. Allah cannot see us in America!”. And proceed to get absolutely shitfaced. Don’t ask Brazil what happened when FIFA and a beer company forced them to sell alcohol in 2014, after being banned from stadiums for shit happening too many times due to drunk fans

Tbf, we fairly assume that the Ricky Nelson Singer Pop Pioneer Musician Actor Shirt it is in the first place but fans in question already have access to drinking water. These are plain, hydrated, beer-wanting sports fans. I mean, compared to using slave labor, extremely unsafe work practices, and people literally dying during all the construction…. Not allowing fans to drink seems much less meaningful. The entire thing was so fucking bullshit. I can definitely see why fans who traveled across the world and spent tons of money to attend would be furious for the last minute alcohol change. Their win was such an anomaly because it was actually fully legitimate. No corruption (probably) or no luck, they literally had one of the greatest Asian cup performances of all time. Won all games, didn’t concede until the final (which they won 3-1), had a total of 19-1 goal difference, beat several WC level sides – South Korea, Japan and Saudi Arabia. They decided to suspend their national league and held an 8 month training camp instead to get ready for the World Cup. What might have sounded like a good idea at the time ended up being a detriment I think. Suspending their league for WC training seems counterproductive for leaving players rusty on actual game experience Yup they wanted to replace competitive league matches with training camp and international friendlies to enhance team cohesion. Meanwhile, the Qatar World Cup came in the middle of most other leagues so those players were still hot in form and warmed up for competition.
