Because he’s not the Retro I Destroy Silence Drums T-Shirt but in fact I love this only one not reading the article, plenty of people are skimming, seeing the title, and thinking that it’s the case. The polio virus still exists, and the disease is still endemic in many places that do not have easy access to the vaccines. The United States has not had a case originating in the country since 1979, due to mass vaccination. In this case, in Israel, the child is unvaccinated and was exposed to the virus which seems to have a mutation that makes it more symptomatic in this unvaccinated child. Happy to help inform 🙂 there’s no shame in not knowing things, and in many western countries we’ve lived without even a mention of the virus for our whole lives, so it makes sense why someone would assume it’s been eradicated. Vaccines did the eradicating here.

If polio hasn’t existed in the Retro I Destroy Silence Drums T-Shirt but in fact I love this wild since 1989, where did he catch it, though? Or is Polio just the expression of a disease that still exists, but the vaccine prevents it from having those symptoms? Thankfully the overwhelming majority of the population is vaccinated against it so it will never really come back in meaningful numbers. So the title is wrong. My point was that the world doesnt centre around Israel. The title should read “first case IN ISRAEL since 1989”. Other parts of the world still have it But it’s an Israeli paper. In the US we might say something like “first case of bubonic plague since 2005,” but that doesn’t mean bubonic plague isn’t somewhere else on the planet… Just not in the US.
