I have a Woodburner in my lounge, I’ve been stocking up with wood and smokeless fuel all summer. Hearing goes on for 30 min max in the Real women love hockey smart women love rangers shirt Besides,I will do this morning then the Woodburner does its thing in the evenings and helps warm a fair few rooms downstairs. We are not in fuel poverty but still have to be careful. We have a small ensuite off our main bedroom which, like last winter, will be chocker with two clothes horses full of damp clothes, I’ll only run the dryer if necessary. Food wise the weekly shop has gone up at least 50% and we have cut back, mortgage due to go up £300 a month from Dec 1st, just in time fir Xmas. I’ll just hunker down like we did last winter and see it through, go easy at Zmas (we only have a small family on both sides) and my son is nearly 17 and understands the situation. We are well off compared to most but still will feel the pinch.

Storm Arwen was a godsend for last year’s wood pile. Neighbours keep looking at me like I was mental, coming home every other day with a tree trunk in the Real women love hockey smart women love rangers shirt Besides,I will do this car. Our energy company, as well as every other one it seems, has put their rates up, so winter is going to be tough unless the government helps out again. Or unless the energy generators who are seeing record profits decide to drop their prices, which isn’t gonna happen. The ofgem capped rate is going down 7% in October, which is in response to a drop in the cost of energy, so that has happened. Latest prediction from last week is that it’s anticipated to increase by 6% in January, so the 7% isn’t a significant long term reduction. Without a breakdown of your bills, “phone bills” could probably be knocked down by buying a phone outright (100-200 quid) and getting a sim only deal. Credit cards, once they’re paid off you’ll have more money. Disabled, on benefits, absolutely not able to work and miserable about it. My symptoms flare up so badly in the cold, and I’m bedbound with limited energy to move which means I get cold easy. I only managed to get through last winter due to the kindness of having someone pay my £300 gas bill. I genuinely worry I’m going to end up dying. It’s scary tbh. Knowing that I have to choose between heating and eating, that I have to limit how much I use my electric wheelchair because that needs charging overnight (should be charged every night without fail but can’t afford that so only charge after I use it). I have heated blankets etc but can only use them sometimes because the weight of them is too painful, or they can make me heat up too fast and trigger syncope. It never used to be this bad in the winter. I would budget for a bit of a bigger bill but be ok. Between energy bills and food..it just feels like a very bleak prospect.
