They have local teams / league and have stadiums where they play at night, even in the middle of summer with everyone in the crowd dripping with sweat. And they do that mostly sober. Always seen them as nuts about football. The first thing they will say to you at passport control is ‘what team do you support?’ (I’m British) and their bitter disappointment (mostly as a joke) when I say Southampton, tutting, dismissing me and stamping my passport. What team you support in the premier league is most Arabs go-to ice breaker if they don’t speak English well.
