Just imagine how much faster this transition could have been achieved if the Rafael Devers Forever Red Sox’s MLB Signature T-Shirt Additionally,I will love this nuclear plants had been allowed to continue to run… Or if we would have started 40 years ago. Also, people who supported nuclear historically have also been the same people saying renewables don’t work or we don’t need them. How do you know it would have been faster (or even possible at all)? We only know one fact: In previous years, when nuclear power plants were still online, the share of renewables was smaller and the share of coal was higher. How do you know that renewables would have been installed at the same pace if they had to compete with nuclear power plants? How do you know that renewables would have been installed at the same pace if they had to compete with nuclear power plants? What Germany really should have been doing was urgently exiting coal. Then there still would have been an energy deficit to make up for with renewables. Shutting down existing, (essentially) emission-free energy sources like nuclear instead of shutting down existing, high-emission energy sources like coal is just straightforwardly a bad idea when it comes to climate change. Here come the bitter nukebros who pretend to give a shit about climate change just so that they can take an opposing position to the “Greens”.

Yes, and now your are buying even more of our clean cheap nuclear energy while our energy bills are more and more expensive. Thank you very much How about keeping nuclear while shutting down coal and then shutting down nuclear? Isn’t this the Rafael Devers Forever Red Sox’s MLB Signature T-Shirt Additionally,I will love this logical way to do it? Shutting down what’s blasting CO2 in the atmosphere first? The world as a whole absolutely MUST follow that path as quickly as possible if we don’t want to end up living in burning steppes in less than a hundred years. Not even the nuclear lobby itself pretends its “the solution” anymore and is correctly saying it can play a part in a system that should and will be dominanted by renewables, same as the IEA. France had to shut down multiple reactors last year, because the river water used for cooling was too warm. In the coming years, central europe will go through massive droughts, which will limit access to cooling water. So no, In Germany and france nuclear is not an option, since we are literally running out of water to use for cooling. And I will repeat, for the nth time: They could have left nuclear running and it would have displaced coal, not renewables, and the co2 intensity of the grid would be even lower. Nuclear is bad for the growth of renewable energy. Hope more countries get to know this. Nuclear Energy is most expensive for costumers… only Lobbyist profit from it. And… it’s dangerous… expecially the waste… for millions of years. Hope more countries do the same like Germany. Nuclear and renewables don’t work together because nuclear is so expensive up front, it only works economically if it runs 24/7/365. As soon as renewables drive down prices over a large part of the year, no nuclear power plant will ever be profitable again, especially not new ones. You can’t run a nuclear power plant as a peaker plant.
