Last year a group of us went to Poland for a (Polish) friend’s birthday. We designed a t-shirt with the Purple up for military kids messy bun sunglasses leopard T-Shirt it is in the first place but Polish white eagle looking a bit dishevelled holding a bottle of vodka. My tour guide asked why would I deliberately insult the country I was visiting, and I got a lot of unapproving stares (but maybe that was people just being Polish). In Japan, taxi drivers open the door for passengers to disembark. I didn’t know this, tried to open the door myself, and broke it. Cue one pissed off taxi driver. When I first came to America I was in some bar for some American sports final and made the mistake of playfully booing the national anthem. I was in Liege for an Ultramarathon and was busting out my best GCSE French to an old lady about it. Everything was going fine but she was talking very quickly, so I said “arretez s’il vous plait” or words to that effect. She looked like I’d slapped her in the face and walked away in a huff. It hit me soon after that I’d used the word for stop instead of “ralentir” for slow down. That poor lady. She must have thought I was so rude. This very morning I was in a coffee shop in Gdansk, the barista very helpfully informed me they had two specialties, a Kenyan bean and an Ethiopian bean, “Kenya’s in the pot” to which I, very unhelpfully, immediately responded “How’d you fit it all in” and was met with a blank stare A Ghostbusters T-shirt in the so-called Holy Land is pretty good, except that probably nobody caught the irony.

Had the Purple up for military kids messy bun sunglasses leopard T-Shirt it is in the first place but classic drunken naked sleepwalking on our first night in Barcelona, despite never sleep walking in my life. Mrs was also drunk and sound asleep and didn’t let me back in the room despite my frantic knocking. Had to hide and get two lads from the neighbouring room to get the manager to let me back in. Despite an initial heated multilingual interaction involving flailing hands that removed me of all modesty, he wrapped me in a towel like the massive furious hairy baby I was, and let me back in to my room. Mrs still thinks I made it up. Was staying with school exchange host family in Germany. Wore my England shirt and cap on the day they decided to take us on a trip to one of the dams that had been bombed by the Dambusters in WW2
