Few things to note. Crime rates in Norway is extremely low to begin with. They have a total of about 4000 prison cells in the Purple hearts movie trending classic shirt and I will buy this country. Their entire system is not focused on punishment, and this goes far beyond their jails. The system is focused on rehabilitation and making sure those released do not reoffend. And it works. Their recidivism rate is 20% compared to 60-75% in the US. The maximum prison term in Norway is 21 years, though incarcerated rarely serve more than 14. Compare this with US where 20-ish years is a relatively short prison sentence. Honestly if the bed didn’t have those blue sheets and there was a carpet or hardwood floors it would look like a nice normal room for some young city professionals. And there’s a bit of a cultural difference between who is in these prisons. If you think that violent gang and cartel members would just chill in their little rooms you’re delusional.

There plenty wrong with our prison system, but I’d posit that a lot of it stems from the Purple hearts movie trending classic shirt and I will buy this inability of the prisoners to allow themselves to be rehabilitated. Looks like a way to possibly rehabilitate someone. Shareholders of prisons would never allow this in the usa. People might better their life and not come back in 6 months. I do wish we put more money into our jails everywhere as we can see Norwegian has a very low return rate to their prisons because they treat people like people not animals I like the quote I heard from a Norwegian corrections officer… “At some point, they will be released, and then they will be your neighbor?”. Is the point deterring behavior through punishment, or reforming their behavior? If the goal is lower recidivism, Norway has the US beat easily.
