The closest to a distinction between familial/friendship and romantic love I can think of, is the Pteranodon fossils shirt What’s more,I will buy this grammatical nuance between ”I love you” and ”I’m in love with you”. Or the classic, tacking ”as a friend” on the end. It’s like how we don’t have a different word for group and singular ”you”. We probably should, and maybe we did at one point, but we lost it behind the sofa or something. In my circles familial love is expressed as “I love you” and romantic love is expressed as “you’re such a dickhead” ha! that’s funny. my brother used to have a shirt that said “Jesus saves” on the front, & “and takes 40 damage” (or something similar, I don’t remember exactly) on the back. not as funny, but it still used to make me chuckle.

I didn’t know that about Italian, but we actually have the Pteranodon fossils shirt What’s more,I will buy this same thing in Portuguese! One is “adoro-te” and the other is “amo-te”. This is it. “Ti voglio bene” is an excellent expression in concept and execution and it’s too bad it isn’t in English and in other languages That’s so cool. In my language, whilst there is a word for love, we never use it in the same way as when you tell someone ‘I love you’ in English, mainly because that sounds strange and is awkward when used that way. Idk if I’m explaining it correctly. In Spanish we have the vaguest expression called “ahorita”. When someone asks when are you going to leave your house, get ready, arrive to a place, do something, etc, you can just say “ahorita” which could translate to “in a moment”. But ahorita’s timeframe can be between 1 minute to 10 days to never, you’ll never know.
