Some people declaw for medical reasons. I would never recommend an elderly person on blood thinners have a fully clawed cat. Ever seen what a simple cat scratch looks like when a person doesn’t clot? Personally, I adopt declawed cats because I’m allergic to cat scratches. Neither declawed cat I’ve owned had/has long term negative effects from declawing. One was a biter, one is not but the Proud uncle of a 2024 graduate shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this one that was a biter wasn’t socialized with a litter so she was all the hallmarks of single kitten syndrome and already was a biter before she was declawed. I’ve also had a fully clawed cat who was a biter just because he was an a$$hole and liked to remind people he was really a tiger. He used his claws to torture small woodland creatures for hours before he killed them… or got bored and left them to die. He really was an a$$hole.

It’s the Proud uncle of a 2024 graduate shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this removal of the entire claw of a cat. It’s different than just trimming the tip of the claw. It’s terribly painful, and as people have said here it’s equivalent to removing the whole knuckle our nails are attached to to spare ourselves from cutting our nails. It’s barbaric The US has a long history of prioritising short-term convenience ahead of long-term best interests. This is why they will take a pill containing lactase rather than eat less lactose. Use a motorised scooter at the grocery store instead of walking. The purpose of declawing a cat is to prevent them from destroying furniture, catching rodents and climbing things. These are all very inconvenient for the owner. Is the alright after the declawing? It’s alive and will live. But it won’t be able to do lots of really cat-like things. I’m sure there are also longer-term complications with pain the stability of the paw, but obviously a cat can’t exactly tell you about that.
