Whipping with a belt. I never had kids partially for fear of doing this, plus never wanted kids. Don’t have a clue, not violent, never had anger issues but If it is hereditary it ends with me. My mom would come home and argue w my dad over money and the alcohol and it would just make us feel lonelier, when THEY WERE around it was a fight but when they weren’t it was like damn.. never really received hugs or I love yous as a kid so it’s still odd to me to this day to even be affectionate.

I buy quality stuff that cost money. But it lasts for years. Also i will never tell a kid that i don’t care about their interests. Even if I really don’t care about their interest i do care about their happiness and will happily feign interest in something to make a kiddo happy. Also when i give them Christmas presents/birthday presents/ random gifts that item is then theres. And im not going to use it to bribe them or some shit also comparing them to others. Its just cruel. small children do not want or need to be thinking that life is some sort of competition or that theyre not good enough because someone else is doing stuff better My parents raised me with no awareness that science exists and they can look up science to tell what’s goin on. Even things like simple diarrhoea could be avoided by understanding the baby’s body. I don’t blame them they had no one to teach them. Glad paediatricians today help parents out and there’s wealth of information on the internet that we’re able to raise babies better by making informed decisions. My dad verbally abused me and then gave me the silent treatment for two weeks when I told him I wanted to study languages instead of sciences, saying that I’d end up as a poor Spanish teacher. We’re on good terms now but it’s a pain I will never really get over because I know that he’ll never truly approve of me. Ofc I want my kids to be comfortable but it’s a myth that only STEM courses lead to successful careers and there’s NO POINT in forcing yourself into a career you don’t want and ending up miserable. We don’t “own” kids, they’re people in their own right and, unless they’re completely confused and want help deciding, parents shouldn’t have a place in such decisions.
