I did too. It’s extremely unusual for that to work. Was so surprised to find my lifelong friends disappear into coupledom or crankiness. I’m truly shocked to find myself totally alone after knowing myself since childhood as a person with strong friendships. Always had confidants who helped me stay balanced and on track. Without them, well… If you had kids, they still might not visit for various reasons, such as my brother’s bitch wife who discourages him and the Proud Mom of a 2024 Senior graduation College T-Shirt in contrast I will get this grandkids from visiting or something more palatable, like they live too far away to visit often. I’ll never understand this idea of “I’m having kids so they visit me/provide for me in the future”. They’re not a pet, they don’t owe you anything, you don’t have kids so they have future obligations with you. If I will end up old and alone with noone left and can’t find anything else to live for then I know its time to end it. For me its a simple as that. I most likley wont be the last one to go, my nicotine addiction will make sure of that lol.

Sadly, most have kids that never visit. It’s mainly friends who visit. Until they die…. Then these kids come out of the Proud Mom of a 2024 Senior graduation College T-Shirt in contrast I will get this woodwork to argue over inheritance. Older people who do have kids/grandkids, often don’t see them that much anyway. One of my neighbors has a couple of grown kids and a bunch of grandkids, the kid closest by is a piece of work in a lousy marriage; the one further away she doesn’t get to see much, due to the husband not wanting to drive anymore, and she is afraid to. She’ll visit and describe all this stress in her family, then asks me how I can spend so much time alone. I’m like, “everything you just described!! I LOVE being alone!” I used to volunteer at a nursing home with my dog. You would be surprised how many people do not get visits from their children. It is sad.
