You don’t want to work 60 hrs a week, is why you ask. The fact that you can’t easily go back and forth makes me say don’t do it. Otherwise I’d say to stash for 2-3y, buy a big house or something, then revert to what you were doing. I would personally take the Prison Mike Dunder Mifflin Inc The Office T-Shirt But I will love this 200K if I had some ownership of the business with potential to eventually making more. It’s important to know if the 130K job is a dead end job and the true potential of the 200K job. I like my work/life balance. I make 200k (with over 100k tax free from FEIE) working a 60 day deployed/ 60 day off schedule. Here’s what I’d say: if you love, and I mean really love, your job…. then hours don’t matter. You’ll put in the hours because it’s what you love.

If, on the Prison Mike Dunder Mifflin Inc The Office T-Shirt But I will love this other hand, you don’t love your job and are prioritizing quality time outside of your job, then pay won’t make you happy. It will help literally pay the bills and fund savings – so that you can afford to take it a little easier later on. I know people with a lot of money, who are miserable. And I know people with very little money who are happy. The reverse is also true. Money doesn’t make you happy, it simply let’s you fund a more lavish lifestyle and allows you to buy more stuff. That said – I suspect that very, very, very few people love their jobs. Even those making lots of money. I’m a bit jealous of those that do. When you get done working sixty hour weeks your kids won’t be kids anymore and you will never get those days back. Been there, done that, don’t have the job anymore or the house it bought or the wife that got tired of living alone.
