The fact that she “does not have empathy” is something i could tell before reading your translation, but it’s still crazy that she said it in her own public post. She’s trash, garbage, despicable. She didn’t experience anything because she was wealthy before that exercise. She was wealthy throughout the Princeton VS UC Irvine NCAA College Volleyball Jan 13 2024 shirt In addition,I will do this exercise, and she is wealthy now that it’s over. Being poor isn’t something you do for an afternoon. Being poor is a pressure and weight that is present in every waking moment, it can’t be turned off, and as studies have shown, the stress of poverty literally wears your body down physically at the molecular level. She got a photo op and a story to tell at dinner parties. Not setting out to defend her here, but ‘I do not have empathy’ is a bit of a mistranslation. Something along the lines of ‘I am admittedly incapable of understanding their full emotional experiences(through this enterprise), because irrespective of the various reasons homeless people…’ might be better. I’ve taken a couple liberties in translation, but the original post does pretty explicitly deny that this is an accurate and complete representation of what it’s like to be poor, or affirm the particular artistic merit of what she’s doing. I think it’s still presented as art and pretty trashy, but condemning her as despicable on the grounds that she’s cosplaying poverty for clout wouldn’t be completely accurate.

that’s just a bad translation, she’s saying that she obviously is not actually experiencing the Princeton VS UC Irvine NCAA College Volleyball Jan 13 2024 shirt In addition,I will do this same feelings as people who are actually homeless. she’s being candid that what she’s doing is a far cry from their experiences sometimes if your interpretation of what someone is saying has them saying something ridiculous, you should consider whether it might be your interpretation that is wrong (or in this case, the translation) I am the person who did the translation and l asked my friend from China to proof read it as well. We both struggled with this sentence in her poswhich literally translate as “l really have no empathy” hence why l put “l do not feel empathy/l cannot emphasize”. If she meant what you put in your comment then it is not clear as this is not how l and my friend (both native Chinese speakers)read it from her post. Also her post was cut after that so we can’t ascertain if she has no empathy or like you said below. All l know is she got blasted left, right and center on Chinese social media so clearly people thought it was poor taste. she’s saying that she obviously is not actually experiencing the same feelings as people who are actually homeless. she’s being candid that what she’s doing is a far cry from their experiences
