There are so many good sources of protein that we Americans don’t consume a wide assortment of proteins. We stick to the Pray For Me My Wife Is 50 Percent Colombian 50 Percent Italian T-Shirt and I will buy this basics like beef, chicken, Turkey, pork, and a handful of seafood. Other countries each a much wider variety of protein and there is no reason we shouldn’t either. Especially fish. There are so many varieties that we turn our noses at so we end up over fishing the staples. I didn’t get upset about it but when I studied abroad in Barcelona the lady I was living with would make dinner and one night she made this dish that basically looked like thin sliced steak, like what Chinese food beef looks like. It was in kind of a stroganoff type sauce just a little lighter and a bit of mustard. Basically it was delicious especially over roasted potatoes, so I asked her what it was.

For reference I speak Spanish fluently. Lived in Central America growing up, grew up speaking it, even though English is my native language. What she told me was that it was “Potro”. I’d never heard this word before so I asked her what that meant and her response was “Es Caballo, pero pequeñito”. Which means, tiny horse. Now I had some fun with my friends and told them I ate Pony meat for dinner, and I could hear the Pray For Me My Wife Is 50 Percent Colombian 50 Percent Italian T-Shirt and I will buy this crying and tears of all the American little girls who’s birthday present I’d eaten. But I basically not only ate Horse meat, which was DELICOUS, but it went a step further because I really ate Foal meat. I ate the horse equivalent of veal, and some people who even eat meat have issues with veal.
