I had a buddy who was infantry in Afghanistan. He was shot (passed all the Popping Bottles Babies For The New Year 2023 Milk Box Fireworks T-Shirt But I will love this way through), and stabbed. He said being shot just felt like a really bad burn. He said it was nothing compared to the stab. The stab was an incredible higher amount of pain. A loaded gun was pointed at my face by a man I thought I could trust but was having a mental episode… I don’t know if it’s close to surviving a gunshot but it mentally messed me up I actually work with a guy that was shot in the head a few years ago. He has a scar and he told me it was just really loud when it happened. He doesn’t remember much, but he’s totally fine. Kinda wild that someone survived being shot in the head. Not quite like the other stories here, but I was a historical interpreter and reenactor in college. Specifically I portrayed a 1750s Scottish soldier in North America during the Seven Years War (the “French Indian War” as it’s known in the US). Part of my job included handling and firing a (reproduction) Brown Bess musket, a muzzle-loaded black powder smoothbore flintlock that fired spherical bullets that would be roughly the equivalent of a .75 caliber today (though with much less muzzle velocity, thankfully).

One day during a drill, an ember stayed at the Popping Bottles Babies For The New Year 2023 Milk Box Fireworks T-Shirt But I will love this bottom of my barrel after my first shot (we’d later find out our “safety expert” was a sham and had been using the wrong type of paper for our cartridges), which resulted in my shot going off as I was loading my bullet, with the barrel pointed more or less directly at my face, inches away (this was supposed to be a “rapid fire” exercise and I was a stupid, sloppy kid who didn’t understand gun safety nearly as much as I should). So, technically, I shot myself in the face with a 75 caliber from point blank range. Fortunately the bullet itself wasn’t yet fully in the barrel when the gun went off, but I didn’t know that at the time because the blast of gunpowder to the face left me convinced I had blown my face open. The pain was really indescribably intense, but at the same time my whole face also felt numb to the point where I genuinely thought it was just gone. I couldn’t see (my eyes were coated with gunpowder residue) and couldn’t breathe (shock), and all I could feel was intense, agonizing burning around the periphery of my face where the blast hadn’t completely numbed my skin. This lasted about twenty or so minutes until sensation started coming back in my face, which hurt a lot more (well, as much but now everywhere on my face and not just around the periphery) but was also somehow reassuring because it meant I still had a face.
