The majority of that sub is working out what settings destroy your framerate for no reason, and figuring out various crashes and issues with utilizing VRAM that Rockstar hasn’t fixed. I’ve run into several myself. This game was poorly optimized when it launched and you are playing it 5 years later with a GPU that should be overkill for it. 100 fps doesn’t sound like “peak optimization” in my book. Peak Optimization should give you 144 steady fps at max settings. You should take a look at RE Engine games or doom games. Also Rockstar has history of badly optimized PC games. Playing GTA4 on PC without a fan made patch is almost impossible. If I’m being frank a 5 year old game should run amazingly on modern hardware. I honestly can’t believe I can play this on steam deck and it still looks good and runs smoothly. Peak oprimised? Noway. And far from at launch. Yes its improved and runs well for most now but took awhile. Peak optimisation honestly is doom. It is one of the only AAA games that I can run over 100 fps on high settings. I just recently bought this game and I’m about 30% through it… holy fuck its so amazing… I just don’t understand the morality compass feature. If I do a mission and have to kill someone why does it exist? Does it really affect anything? Love it nonetheless It is also a very demanding game. If I max out everything, my 6900 XT would sometimes see the frame drop to the 40s at 1080p. That’s just unnecessary hostility. I just said that despite being released 5 years ago, it still looks amazing even compared to new releases from 2023. 2018 was a long time ago, friend. Half a decade. Graphics usually progress more in that amount of time. It’s also old and has had tons of updates. Probably ran like shit when it was new too. Take off the rose-tints once in a while. I only have a 1080p monitor so theres no point running it any higher for me. I am also running it on a card that is marketed for 1080p gaming.
