I went out on two dates with someone that would take my self deprecating jokes far too seriously and tried to start “rehabbing my self esteem.” I tried to make it clear that I had a good sense of self and that I just like making stupid jokes but she couldn’t grasp the Playing Pickleball Inproves Memory Retro Power T-Shirt and I will buy this idea that someone could love themself AND joke about themself too. Like OP said, it’s super awkward (and a bit of a buzz kill) to make a disposable joke that someone uses to launch into a five minute “love yourself” speech. Playing Pickleball Inproves Memory Retro Power T-Shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

This could be a way to indicate to yourself and others that you’ve grown personally in some way. Part of the Playing Pickleball Inproves Memory Retro Power T-Shirt and I will buy this joke could be that it’s ridiculous that would behave in this way you’re joking about. Like past me used to do behavior x but current me is over behaving in that type of way. I agree. Rodney Dangerfield did it. That was pretty much his thing. Also in my opinion it makes a comedian more relatable. Some comedians are not funny just because they’re too pretentious. Like Jimmy Carr I like to make fun of people, but I don’t want to offend people, so I usually just make fun of myself because I told me I was OK with it. My cousin and i have polar opposite humour and the context makes us very different in social circles. He is in finance and makes well over 300k a year. His humor props people up and increases social status. I am in analytics make about 150k and do pretty well as well and am self deprecating. I would say we both have our success but between us we are awkward and no one would really expect that given how we are both social butterflies.
