Your technique is spot on, but that’s way too hot for me. 350° for like 45 minutes is perfect. Soft garlic without worrying about burning it. The other 2 comments are spot on, just chiming in that I personally do this with a bulb when I’ve got the Pittsburgh Steelers Best Pittsburgh Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this oven running for something else even if I’m not going to immediately use the roasted garlic. It’ll last in a sealed container for a week or two. Just don’t do it when you’re baking sweet stuff. Roasting a chicken? Bulb. Bread? Bulb. Pizza? Bulb. Ribs? Bulb (even at the lower temp just for longer time). That said I’m in Central Florida so running the oven for an hour is unnecessary heat inside for just a bulb of roasted garlic. It could be a perk in colder areas. Right?! I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. There is nothing satisfying about this stupid trend of 50 jump cuts in 10 seconds. It’s the, “Whoa! Radical! Thumbs up! guitar solo” of this generation of media, and can’t be phased out soon enough.

She cuts the Pittsburgh Steelers Best Pittsburgh Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this top of a head of garlic and drizzles it with oil. Does the same to a shallot. Wraps them in foil and roasts them in the oven for a bit; probably 350 to 375 F for 20 minutes. When done she squeezes then into a bowl with a lot of softened butter and mixes well with salt, pepper, crushed red pepper, and other spices. Then she cuts a loaf of bread in half and spreads the butter mixture over it. Tops with cheese and roasts until the cheese is slightly caramelized. Removes from the oven, drizzles with just a tiny bit of honey, and then tops with parsley before slicing and serving. Roast onion and shallot with oil, salt, pepper wrapped in foil. When done, mix with butter, something (I can’t tell, but maybe it’s miso paste? IDK), red pepper flakes, more salt, more pepper. Smear on bread, top with cheese, into the oven.
