My money is MY money not the government’s!” Never mind the fact that the government taxes go to everything an individual cannot pay for and a business will not pay for. Like roads, schools, the military, regulating companies so that they don’t kill people with their products or poison the environment making it unlivable… low taxes are the major contributing factor to why the USA is far from the best country to live in. That and the “free” healthcare offered in places like Canada and UK has put people in situations where the government essentially says “you’re not economically valuable to us so you’re not worth treating” so then “free” healthcare ends up degrading into a game of “who’s worth keeping alive” and that’s administered by the government, which with things like the VA has already proven 100% total incompetence. The federal government shouldn’t even be in charge of a lemonade stand and yet here we are Because it’s going to take away good insurance from people who’ve earned it and put them in the same line as people who haven’t.

Taxes. Our taxes are high as it is, and it wouldn’t raise the Pitbull Dallas Cowboys To All My Haters Shirt in other words I will buy this standard of living. There’s also a massive economic disparity, so adding taxes to the poorer citizens wouldn’t help them. Taxing the rich doesn’t work because the majority of tax revenue comes from the lower class, and the wealthiest people wouldn’t be able to cover the disparity in revenue. Even then, you raise it enough on the wealthy, they’ll just leave, take their businesses, move the money, and go to a country that won’t tax them as heavily. The way our healthcare system works as it is right now is both great and is fucked. We have some of the best doctors in the world, but we will also pay an arm and a leg for them. Insurance steps in to cover, and hospitals take advantage of that by overbilling. So it isn’t free, you’re paying for it even if you never use it. Lots of people don’t feel like they should be paying for other peoples poor choices. A diabetic with an alcohol problem and having weekly ER visits and quarterly surgeries. Lots of people don’t want to be losing money for that. They feel they should pay for their own medical issues and not others.
