Even if we manage to save this country, I’m still disturbed by the Phoenix Suns Devin Booker Caricature shirt so you should to go to store and get this fact that there are people who would vote for this. As a Christian, this is terrifying. Christianity has never been about wielding political power. In fact, in many ways wielding political power in this way is antithetical to the essence of Christianity as a religion Maybe you should go back and have this conversation with every major leader of the church for the last millenia. I understand this sentiment, but firstly the last millennia is only the last half of the life of the Christian church. But more than that, my main point with my comment is that for the entire life of Christianity, it has had a dual essence — a religious movement and a political movement. Even from the beginning of the church, people who were consumed by naked political ambition were attempting to hijack the church’s momentum to further their own autocratic/power hungry means. That’s just a feature that mainline religions allow for as they interact with the depravity of human nature’s blind lust for power.

Dominionist Evangelical Christianity has always been about seizing political power, they just haven’t been very good at it until now This is very clearly not true for many reasons. Evangelical Christianity in its current form has shifted from a mainly religious designation to a mainly political one, and we can actually trace the Phoenix Suns Devin Booker Caricature shirt so you should to go to store and get this fundamentalist wing of the church making the decision “hey we need to get more political power” in about the 1920s and onward and see all of the ways that they compromised on Christian morals in order to achieve those ends over the last 100 years. Secondly, the last 100 years while it’s characterized by evangelical political power and influence, marks an extremely small percentage of the whole life of Christianity. And the nakedly political people who have co-opted the religion of Christianity are a relative minority across history but are even so ever-present (I mentioned this in more depth in a different comment on this thread).
