It depends on what you are comparing humans to. Other mammals? Omnivores? Adaptable generalists? What is ‘developed’ if a bat can hear very high pitched sounds but a whale can hear very low pitched sounds. You get the PHLY Hockey NHL Philadelphia Flyers shirt In addition,I will do this idea. If you compare us to an animal that has been maximizing a sense for several million years, such as a nocturnal cat or an eagle, then our eyesight is less developed in the dark or at great distance. But compare us to a dog and we have excellent color, sharpness, etc. (see other posts for better descriptions). Rinse and repeat for smell. A dog has excellent smelling and they can easily get their noses up close and personal with the sources of scents. We must stoop and bend. However there are some scents that we can detect and they cannot (and visa versa). Our senses are calibrated differently to help us. Some scents are difficult for dogs to detect but we can identify them in vanishingly small amounts. So we do have very good noses, but they are specialized in a different way. The fact that we rely more heavily on sight means that we value our noses less. So the short answer is: it’s complicated and this question doesn’t really make sense once you dig into the topic. BUT it is a great way to remind ourselves that we actually have pretty good senses across the board – and a mind to make the most of them. We didn’t kill 80% of the populations of other animals on this planet because we were less ‘developed’ in any given sense.

“Well developed” is a flawed way of thinking about how life evolves. “Well” is a descriptor that indicates opinionated judgement by a human. Life evolves to fit what ever section(s) it fits in regardless of a human’s opinion on how well it does. In general, our senses work for our species just as an owl or a dolphin’s senses work for their niche. Above average eye sight compared to what? It would be silly for a dragonfly or a chicken to have human eyesight because our eyes don’t suit their species….plus so many of us can’t function fully without the PHLY Hockey NHL Philadelphia Flyers shirt In addition,I will do this use of artificial light and corrective lenses lol But in the whole, yes, we have well developed senses. But our sense our tied to our environment and because humans are everywhere, our sense are gonna be less “specified” than many other creatures and therefore might appear less developed.
