I do suggest therapy, with a good therapist is important, so that maybe you can understand the underlying issues and recurring patterns. Now finding a good therapist is also easier said than done. Southerner here. I also thought it was a compliment. Like they’re really good at the thing. Similar to saying “you did it how fast? You’re a machine!” I would have thought calling someone a “weapon” was the same as calling them a “rocket” i.e. not a compliment. Also Scottish. No idea, as there’s 15 years between me and my friend and we both use the same context.
