What law is that? Wouldn’t that only apply to public sector jobs? Private companies can interview no one if they want. Has to do with fair hiring practices. For example, if a position opens up they must let current employees apply to it and if they are planning on internally filling a position they must interview a certain number of internal and external employees before filling. My company I just left actually got in trouble for this, they had a lead position opening, manager automatically gave it to his family member without considering anyone else.
