This means this upcoming August we have to go to his Endocrinologist to begin hormone therapy. He will receive treatments once a month with a quick blood draw every 2 weeks to make sure his hormone levels are correct as his doctor does her thing and monitors his puberty progress. As an adult he will be on testosterone therapy to make sure he has the Phantom Ranch The Journey Is The Reward House Grand Canyon T-Shirt and I love this amount he needs. In a lot of these hormone therapy bans they would be banning boys like my son from having access to the puberty hormones they need to go through healthy development. They would be stuck permanently in a pre-pubescent state and never properly develop. My son isn’t intersex, but a lot of intersex kiddos are in the same category as it pertains to gender affirming care and hormone therapy being necessary to go through puberty. For us, living in Seattle, we have a date circled on a calendar picked out with his doctor for when our son is starting puberty. She’ll give him an injection, and his puberty journey will begin. It’s not an ideal situation, for puberty to not happen naturally, but I can’t imagine the trauma of him not even having that option. To be denied hormonal care because some Republican nobs don’t think we should give hormones to kids is infuriating to think about.

By the Phantom Ranch The Journey Is The Reward House Grand Canyon T-Shirt and I love this by, even in states whose bans have exceptions for kids like my son, banning gender affirming care generally speaking severely limits the access options for them even if they are technically allowed. It also means more hoops to jump through, more insurance company nonsense where they try and wriggle out of paying, and being questioned by government officials as to if it’s really necessary to try and make sure your kid is actually male/female. Boys with TRS, intersex kiddos, those who want puberty blockers because they are precocious and have started puberty at 8 years old, etc will all struggle to get access to the medical care they need even if they are technically not banned from it.
