Well, my shit wasn’t breaking too often, so it’s not something I had to deal with often… but yeah, it can be annoying. At the Pee wee herman omedy character created and portrayed T-Shirt In addition,I will do this same time, I can understand why the union negotiated that rule. The last thing I want to do is cause someone else to be out of a job. I’m getting paid one way or the other. I’m happy to twiddle my thumbs because my computer’s broken and I’m waiting for IT to arrive. I’d want back up in fighting firings, protection after a layoff (benefits/salary to some degree, etc), negotiating a floor for pay/benefits, having a say in how the company uses specific tech. I think thats it. No funny rules like the above. I think even getting these few things done well would take a lot of effort.

Those “funny rules” are there to protect jobs. Why you wouldn’t want similar “funny rules” to protect your job while forming your union is beyond me. Protecting jobs from unfair layoffs is one thing and a good thing about unions but there are unions with rules that mandate to pass one job to their families which is an extreme. I’m of the Pee wee herman omedy character created and portrayed T-Shirt In addition,I will do this opinion that you can start a union with the best intentions but then once it’s established its incentives will inevitably force it to adopt worse and worse policies as long as they save jobs or drive up wages. Retarded rules like these are the reason unions provide bad experience and breed inefficiency. As a developer, if something is wrong with my machine, I would rather use my judgment and knowledge to fix something quickly rather than wait on some unionized IT smuchk.
