My Grandad used to lie about being teetotal all his life. In truth, he was quite fond of the Pardon My Take Dj’s Vending Shirt But I will love this odd pint or 12 in his youth. When his kids were born his sister asked him to cut down a bit, and tragically died a few months later. So in tribute to her he knocked it on the head and never drank again. But he would tell people he had never in his life drank alcohol, didn’t see the appeal etc. One was a white girl around 18 years old, the other is a 50ish year old chinese woman so possible but I am airing on the side of doubt. This made me chuckle to think of the memory, but about ten years ago my first serious boyfriend was about to introduce me to one of his best friends, and he randomly told me that his parents owned or invented the BIC pen company. And I believed him for so long (luckily never asked the best friend about it). He owned up to it when he realised I had totally run with it. One of my exes claimed to be great at cooking slow cooker recipes and said he made it through uni cooking meals like that.

The guy had no idea how to cook, slice or even peel anything at all. I had to show him the Pardon My Take Dj’s Vending Shirt But I will love this most basic stuff. Why even lie? And why lie about a fricking slow cooker?! My grandfather told lots of random lies to various people. Frank and Jessie James were from a neighbouring Welsh village, Terry Wogan was from Pembroke Phyllis Calvert was a relation etc only found out some of them were lies at his funeral My ex boyfriend told me his only sibling had died when they were younger. It later turned out he had a disabled brother very much alive. I mean, why would you try to hide that? As it turned out, he told lies all over the place but I could never understand why he’d lie about something like that. A man I used to work with (lets call him Billy) was a compulsive liar, lying about things that weren’t really impressive for no good reason. It was mind boggling.
