I’m sorry, but are you saying that when you were 12 your mother informed you that her grandchildren, who had their own families, would be her priority over you, who was still a child and now had nobody to put her first? I’ve absolutely experienced this. My sister moved from Ma to NC (14 hour drive) and had 2 kids. My parents visit them every couple months for a week or more, I lived in RI (1 hour drive) and saw them only when I decided to visit. I understand that struggle. I’m the Original Vols on top cartoon pocket shirt and by the same token and oldest and none of my siblings have kids yet, but I’ve hit the age where my lack of children has become A Thing. And it’s like the whole family has lost interest in me. This is no great loss, but it still hurts. I remember sitting there at lunch after I got my masters degree realizing they’d all be a lot more excited for me if I told them I was pregnant. I live on the way to my sisters house who has my niece. My mother will visit my sister and niece without telling me, then send me a message how she’s sorry she didn’t have time to stop to see me on the way home. It’s a nice little slap in the face, I will never be as important as my sister because she has a kid, I just accept it at this point. They do bring a special excitement to every family event.
