Look, it might have looked like stealing, but those manuscripts and relics would have been destroyed in the Original Utah State Aggies Helmet Famous Idaho Potato Bowl 2023 Logo shirt and I love this fires otherwise. Same with the monks, if they hadn’t been taken as thralls, they would have either died in the fire or been homeless. They were just freedom fighters resisting the expansion of Christian invaders into fellow pagans lands. From the Baltic to the Celtic sea, set them free! I’m more impressed how progressive the Vikings were and how eager they were to offer all those English women opportunities to travel to a new land. Good Guy Vikings. I read something that said that the Vikings or Danes were often freely chosen by the English women rather than raped. Anglo Saxons didn’t wash, Danes did.

Not exactly. Vikings often raided and took slaves. These slaves did not come willingly. In the Original Utah State Aggies Helmet Famous Idaho Potato Bowl 2023 Logo shirt and I love this later Viking age, after large scale Norse invasions, there were many areas settled by Danes and norsemen in England. What you’re referencing is a document about Anglo Saxon peasants complaining the the norse peasants where stealing their women by being too desirable (often due to their weekly baths and the fact they groomed their hair well). They weren’t talking about Vikings, but rather Norse settlers in England who moved their during or after one of the many invasions. Most people don’t freely choose to leave their friends and family for the person who burned down part of their village and killed many people. Don’t get me wrong, the Vikings were more progressive in some ways but the stories that women wanted to leave with them are generally revisionist history. The Vikings killed many people and burned down a lot of towns and stole a lot of women.
