I’m not saying this is right but I know a lot of folks who have volunteered at big events that get huge perks and are willing to not be paid to be able to experience different things at these events/festivals etc. If it’s voluntary don’t do it if you want money I guess. I ended up being stationed outside a press box and the radio DJs invited me in to watch Living Color and The Rolling Stones with them while they got majorly stoned. Best free work I’ve ever done. I mean it depends, I did volunteer security work at a concert. Tickets were 30$ and it was a 4 hour thing. Ended up getting free food and doing security at the VIP area. Volunteering at a soup kitchen or clean up crew is one thing, but at a fundraiser? nah nah, they gotta be paying for that. Its part of their budget to run the fundraiser, guarantee they’re paying for other things just trying to save money.

Can’t trust these ppl with money. I’ve done security at music events and no way would I do that for nothing, not with all the crap I had to put up with, especially if there is acholol sold. I volunteered to work security at a festival once and it was awesome. Spent half the day “standing guard” and the rest seeing artists I liked with free roam of anywhere I wanted to go. unpopular opinion, I love being able to volunteer at festivals for free tickets, do it every year & it saves me so much money. That’s so stupid. I mean at least get people to work one day for a free ticket to the other day. It’s so braindead not to do that. Just volunteer and don’t show up. “Oh, sorry, something else came up. I’m sure you had hundreds of other people lined up.” Okay, not sure how this is anti-work since they aren’t making you an employee and it’s for charity. If I liked the bands or the cause I’d do it. They aren’t offering a job. I do it all the time, I’ve even done security at events. Their wording on the post is a little off, and when volunteering for events it should be “work x hours, get to enjoy the rest of the event for free” (this doesn’t sound like that) – but still, it’s not as bad as some of the shit we see in people looking for free labor.
