On top of that it’s a cover of one of the most well liked and known songs by a band that is up there among the Beatles and Rolling Stones as one of the most influential bands of all time. Because it feels like you’re discrediting the original artist by claiming their song was written by someone who actually adapted it. Which cover are you talking about? I’ve never heard anything other than the Kana Hanazawa version from Bakemonogatari (the one used in memes) that’s the original, and the only one I’ve heard as well so I’m also not familiar with what they’re talking about

But saying a cover is objectively shit just because it exists is arrogant and it flies in the face of music performers everywhere I’ve seen people do that with Limp Bizkit’s cover of Behind Blue Eyes and pretty much the only non-bad faith criticism I’ve seen is that the bridge is better on the original
