This is the One Rep Man Shirt and I will buy this part I wonder about. If we have 50% of our parents, but the 50% changes within the gamete expressions, then it should be possible for me to have some Welsh genes but my sibling to have some Portugese ones, right? It’s not like the supermarket and the egg are only giving the same DNA options every time, right? Hi! Can you explain this more or point to somewhere I could read about? Ive always thought these tests were strange given my (very rudimentary layman’s) understanding of genetic variance and race as a social construct. Like how can there be “German” genetic markers that are different than French ones, etc. I grt there can be certain traits prevalent to certain physical geographic locations but even then… I love to be better equipped to discuss

What they do is compile a database of peoples dna and where they live. They then compare your dna to the One Rep Man Shirt and I will buy this other people on their database and use similarities to say that’s where you’re from. It doesn’t take into account how people have moved. It also means that if you do the test with a different company you will get different results as they’ll have a different group of people on their database. It’s all just based on different areas of your DNA being more (or less) similar to the DNA collected from other people who have been grouped. The scientists building the algorithms try to build their pattern matching on people who claim a level of consistency (purity, if you will) among their ancestors. And some use historic DNA from long-dead people as well, rather than just grouping living people, under the idea that back-in-the-day people didn’t migrate so much.
