It would not be reasonable to allow the breach to continue and then try to recover an hour of time when I could have stopped my “loss” as soon as I was aware of the breach occurring.

I agree with you if it’s a claim for damages but I think (I’m a private equity lawyer so I don’t actually know any law) debt claims work differently. There’s no duty to mitigate at common law but you can’t claim damages for a loss that could have been avoided if you did motigate.
