Yes. Definitely. The prom and boyfriend questions could have been unintentionally awkward like a parent. I’m thinking “I have kids that age so I’m thinking about their experiences” rather than how it looks as an old guy interviewing an intern. Talking bad is trying to gain empathy. Every training on recognizing abuse says that. That’s textbook a**hole behavior. I thought the October Made In 1984 Flower 40 Years Of Being Awesome T-Shirt Besides,I will do this same thing, my first thought was “just because some old guy asks about your boyfriend doesn’t mean he’s grooming you”…but then I read more and he’s totally a dirtbag. Agreed with this fully. Thought the BF question was trying to figure out if she had commitments that might make her move away/ be unable to work. Which is fair. But then it got creepy. No reason to work somewhere that makes you feel uncomfortable. Definitely he’s trying to head off at the pass any caution the mom might pass on if OP talks to her about this, and put a wedge between her and her primary support system. I don’t know if I’m correct but I also assumed he knows her mom and that’s how they became connected in the first place? He wants to make sure OP is feeling “so mature for her age” and like “other people won’t understand” so she won’t tell anyone else about his behavior.
