That’s a bit leap from “gendered leagues” to “misogyny.” In this case, it sounds like the quoted league officials are misogynistic. That doesn’t broadly make decisions to have gendered leagues inherently misogynistic. Gendered leagues are the norm, generally speaking, and are hardly controversial.
It’s only an issue now because early middle school-aged girls are, for a short period of time, more developed physically then boys of similar age (on average). Girls start their growth spurts around 2 years earlier than boys (on average). It’s no misogynistic to point this out. A 16U AA boys team is better than the 16U AA girls team 95% of the time. The 5% is when its not a true AA team, or the coach is just that bad. I would not mind a boys team that was unusually bad playing in a women’s league to be honest, it just becomes extremely hard to define where that line should be. If they ended up winning the season it would be bad, but also it would be nonsensical to force them to lose.
Playing up is never really a problem though. If you can beat people who are all bigger and stronger than your players on average, more power to you.
