Agreed! The nascar example they chose wasn’t the Not a miracle worker pastor but I can lead you shirt and I love this best example either. That crew is a little slower than what I’ve seen at races and definitely not as smooth. The single lug is much safer though. Loose lugnuts are no joke at 180+ mph. Worth it. And nothing was more of a downer than disqualifications after a race because of a loose lug. Unsafe release on that Formula E car. Also that F1 stop footage is outdated and current pit stops are even faster! WRC: finishes stage, drives all the way back to the service area on three wheels, techs get car back to normal in a few hours, then back out to drive to the next stage. They were, but that’s a real old video. Newer cars (Gen 3) can go the whole race. Fascinating sport, great racing. Older video but they couldn’t replace the electric battery that easily back then. I think they stick with the same car nowadays. Not Only is your comment just stupid but also outdated. They don’t switch cars anymore because of how the batteries improved and you know why they improved? Because of Formula E and the people who worked on innovations Why did they spent so much time polishing the windshield instead of changing the tires in WEC? Genuinely curious, since I don’t follow any type of racing.

WEC rules mandate that no tires may be changed while refueling. It also has a limit on how many crew members can be over the Not a miracle worker pastor but I can lead you shirt and I love this pit line at a time. The reason for this is safety while handling fuel, but also to make it so that the pit crew doing tires matters to the race outcome. Fuel is the longest part of a WEC pit stop since the endurance races are 6-24 hours. If you could do tires while fuel is flowing, then those pit crew members would have no impact on the race time outcome since fuel is the limiting factor. The WEC clip also didn’t show the driver change. Since the races are 6-24 hours, each car has multiple drivers. At some pit stops they also swap the driver. Wec has a mandatory pit stop time for safety, and the cars don’t have windshield washer for weight, so the crew does that to improve driver visibility. You hit a lot of bugs going 300 kph! And that’s an old slow f1 stop, before the rules were changed to mandate a minimum time 2 seconds for a stop in F1, RBR set the record at a mind boggling time of 1.82 seconds. The fastest time this season is 2.1 seconds.
