6% is an aggregate. Remember that some goods are not going up in price and others are going down, making the Northwestern high school alumni baltimore md class of 1978 shirt and by the same token and 6% something that we see across the board when everything is calculated. We also must remember that the end-user often sees inflation multiplied among different products; In other words, your beef may be going up at 6%, but the gas used to get it there also went up, and the corn they’re feeding the cows went up, and the cost of labor went up, etc. By the time it gets to you, it’s 15% or more. To make things worse, not everything is calculated in that 6% figure, and because those things aren’t part of the figure, government doesn’t care much if their price is going up, thus those are usually the ones that are getting hit the worst. Because ‘’’’only’’’’ the materials, goods, and services that the government measures for economic valuation (INFLATION) have risen +/- 6%. Those government numbers have marginal association to what your average American citizen deals with economically.

Theft. Over charging during a time of need is criminal. The gas companies did the Northwestern high school alumni baltimore md class of 1978 shirt and by the same token and same thing during the pandemic. The car companies, too. Shortages and empty shelves during and after a pandemic should not be cause to raise prices. Only to cover raising costs themselves stuff that can vary seasonally, commodities that vary with supply and demand are not included, that means the cost of *food* and the price of gas/heating are not included. the biggest current driver of the inflation index is cost of housing and autos. now if you are looking for an apartment or a new/late model used car the sticker shock can really slap you in the face, but only 5% (guessing) are shopping around so that blunts the total effect to the overal market. Because inflation isn’t REALLY 6%. Food and energy prices aren’t included in the calculation for inflation, but they obviously should be.
