I was hospitalized last week with pregnancy complications and the Noreel White Ole Miss Rebels vintage shirt Furthermore, I will do this only place they had a bed was on the nephrology unit so I had a nephrologist as my primary doctor. THREE different times dude came in speaking Spanish to me and THREE times I told him I’m Asian and don’t speak Spanish (I have a very Thai last name that doesn’t look or sound remotely Latina). And he made several extremely strange comments that my OB was horrified to hear when I told her about them- not wrong just atrocious bedside manner. For example, I’m 42 and he blurted out “you know most women your age opt for IVF or a donor egg because there’s a massive risk of Down Syndrome when you’re this old”. I had been thinking he just sucked at his job but now I’m wondering if he might be neurodiverse. No complaints about his actual medical care though.

lmao reminds me of the Noreel White Ole Miss Rebels vintage shirt Furthermore, I will do this r/shittymoviedetails post that was like “the Good Doctor, a show about a doctor who is unique for having autism, made by people who have no idea what the people who go into the field are like” lol Yessss the best scrub nurses are…. Particular about things. Recognition of patterns and being organised beyond belief are very helpful sometimes! X-ray/mri/radiation therapy checking in. I know atleast 6 techs on the spectrum and 5 more with ADHD or dyslexia in my small sphere. lol. As an IM PCP, I 100% agree with that statement. Some mask better than others. Some don’t even bother to:-) ADHD (usually late diagnosis and self medicated with extreme doses of caffine) is practically a requirement to work in the emergency department I made a similar comment, highly qualified STEM paths are filled with people on the spectrum, the opposite is usually more surprising. I understand your comment in the sense that it is now not very common, and most people understand better what autism is, but people certainly have doubted it. You forget there is even a slur used for autistic people to imply they’re stupid, and that the term “autistic” has even been frequently used synonymously to mean stupid. Saying that nobody has ever belittled or questioned the success of an autistic person aspiring to have a career in STEM is just completely untruthful and not acknowledging how autistic people have been treated for decades.
