However, there was a reason it was necessary. She couldn’t keep her nails trimmed, and hid all the Nick Scott Hitting Across Deebo Samuel Shirt but in fact I love this time, so we had no idea it was happening. So her claws ended up growing all the way around and back up into her paws (Before anyone says it was neglect, you did not know this cat. We barely ever even saw her, and when we did, it wasn’t up close enough to see her claws. We had to assume that she was keeping her claws short herself, since we had no indications otherwise (no blood left behind her, no limping, nothing. The only way we found out was on a very rare occasion she decided to sit with my dad (only did it once every year or so) and he noticed her claws growing all the way through her paws))

because in the Nick Scott Hitting Across Deebo Samuel Shirt but in fact I love this US animals are legally considered property more than anything. thankfully more states are making declawing illegal. it’s mutilation for an owner’s convenience for physical issues, it can cause chronic pain in their feet, sometimes severe pain. they also seem to be more sensitive in those feet, declawed cats frequently have litter box issues for this reason. it’s not uncommon for our shelter to get a declawed cat due to them urinating outside the litterbox. walking on and scratching at the litter hurts them they also can develop issues in their spine after enough years because the cat cannot move to scratch their claws as they normally would regularly, which involves majorly stretches their back. they dont do this with no claws to scratch with. the spinal issues can result in decreased flexibility and mobility, even to the point of being unable to groom themselves as they normally would declawed cats frequently show aggressive behavior and start immediately escalating to biting because their first defense is gone. declawed cats will often be withdrawn, defensive, and quick to bite. it’s also not uncommon to see them very nervous around other cats because again, first defense is gone
